Washington Mutual, either because of being purchase by Chase (though they do not have the same authorization rules) or because some sort of breach that occurred on their clients accounts, the lender has recently changed their rules about 3rd party authorizations. It used to be the case where someone could submit a letter of authorizing for a company as a whole. At this time this has changed as they have opted to directly authorize specific individuals at each company. Other companies with similar rules have mentioned that this is due to the situation where companies that have been authorized have had additional callers who call in, state that they are part of these companies and receiving access to a homeowner’s account where otherwise they would not have been granted access.
For example where someone would previously would have signed a letter to authorization to entire company such as Absolute Consultant Group and its associates they would now need to assign a specific agent/mortgage processor at Absolute Consultant Group. This one agent or several specific agents would be the only ones that are granted authorization to speak.
